Carolyn O’Connor Immigration Legal Specialist (DOJ Accredited)
Carolyn obtained her accreditation to practice immigration law from the Department of Justice in 2016 after obtaining over 100+ hours of training, observations and hands-on experience. She also holds a B.S. in Human Resources (Davenport University) and an M.A. in Ministerial Leadership (Indiana Wesleyan University) and has worked in a variety of industries during her 20+ year career, including local government, not-for-profits and churches. Carolyn’s passion for immigration came about while working for a church in Michigan when she was faced with the challenges and realities of the immigration system and how it was impacting those seeking to find a better life in the United States. Since the opening of Esperanza Legal Assistance Center in January 2017, she has advised over 80+ clients and manages the day-to-day operations and volunteer staff of the center. Carolyn has proven she is honest, straightforward and compassionate to the individuals and families who come through the doors of the legal center each week. An avid learner, she is also working on learning Spanish so she can better assist her clients.
Beth Cossin Site Director/Community Liaison
Beth served in the U.S. Army as a Captain in the Military Intelligence Corps, and as a pastor at Sandy Lake Wesleyan Church. She is an ordained minister in The Wesleyan Church and previously served the Coordinator for the Wesleyan Justice Network. Beth has a deep commitment to pursue God’s heart for justice and is passionate about seeing the church embody Christ by bringing Biblical justice to our world. She is married to Rev. Shawn Cossin, lead pastor at Heritage Wesleyan Church and is the proud mother of two teenagers, Joshua and Daniel.
